Francisco Montenegro, astronomer

I currently work at the Complutense University in Madrid, as researcher and teacher. I am member of the UCM group of Extragalactic Astrophysics and Astronomical Instrumentation (GUAIX).

Between 2009 and 2022, I worked at the European Southern Observatory, serving as Head of Science Operations and previously as Operations Astronomer at the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) observatory, in Chile.

I obtained my Ph.D degree at the University of La Laguna (Canary Islands, Spain), working as international research fellow at the Istituto di Radioastronomia, in Bologna (Italy). You can find here my thesis about the radio properties of Broad Absoprtion Line Quasars.

I participate in the design studies of the future AtLAST sub-mm observatory.
